ADC Or APC? Why Bala Mohammed Is Still Holding On To PDP.

The Peoples Democratic Party in Bauchi State has explained why Governor Bala Mohammed has yet to defect to the African Democratic Congress, attributing the delay to ongoing consultations.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

State PDP Publicity Secretary, Dayyabu Chiroma, said the governor is taking his time to carefully assess his options to avoid making a wrong political move. Speaking on Sunday, he stressed that Mohammed remains committed to safeguarding the interests of his supporters and will not take any step that could negatively affect them.

He noted that the party in Bauchi remains united despite the uncertainty surrounding the governor’s next political move, adding that members are awaiting the recommendations of an internal committee.

The situation comes amid the lingering leadership crisis within the PDP, which has seen divisions over the legitimacy of its National Working Committee. Mohammed and Seyi Makinde had earlier backed the leadership led by Tanimu Turaki, but the courts later nullified the convention that produced the executives. The matter is now before the Supreme Court for final determination.

In a parallel development, a faction of the party aligned with Nyesom Wike conducted a separate convention on March 29, 2026, electing its own officials.

Meanwhile, during a recent engagement with leaders of the ADC led by Babachir Lawal, Governor Mohammed disclosed that he would soon decide on his political future. He revealed that a committee has been set up to evaluate available platforms ahead of the 2027 elections and recommend the most suitable option.

The governor also stated that attempts to connect with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress were unsuccessful, suggesting he was not welcomed. However, he hinted that the ADC remains a strong option as consultations continue.

Amid growing political realignments, key APC figures, including the party’s national chairman and Abba Yusuf, recently paid him a visit—fueling speculation about shifting alliances.

To further guide the process, the governor has constituted an exit committee to examine the implications of a possible defection from the PDP and advise on the best political direction for the state.

According to Chiroma, the committee’s recommendations—whether to remain in the PDP or move to another party—will determine the next step.

Confirming the development, Bauchi PDP Chairman, Samaila Burga, said the committee, chaired by Deputy Governor Auwal Jatau, includes representatives from across the party and government.

He added that the Secretary to the State Government will serve as the committee’s secretary to ensure smooth coordination of its activities.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.

Meanwhile, comedians Ayobami Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, and Olamide Oladimeji, also known as Dele Omo Woli, have threatened legal action against individuals allegedly linking them to Toluwanisings’ death.

Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.

In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.
