11 Killed As Nasarawa Communities Clash, Houses Burnt.

The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed that 11 residents were killed following renewed clashes between two communities in the Udege Development Area of Nasarawa Local Government Area.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The communities of Akyawa and Udege Kasa reportedly engaged in violent confrontation early Friday over lingering disputes, which also led to the destruction of several homes, raising serious concerns about escalating insecurity in the area.

In a statement released on Saturday in Lafia, the state capital, Police Public Relations Officer SP Ramhan Nansel said the incident prompted Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro Mohammed to visit the affected communities to restore calm.

During his visit on April 3, 2026, the commissioner expressed deep sorrow over the tragic events and sympathized with the families of those who lost their lives, assuring residents that the police command is committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice.

According to Nansel, the violence was allegedly carried out by hoodlums launching a reprisal attack following the killing of two of their kinsmen.

“The attack, which occurred in the early hours, involved hoodlums suspected to be retaliating for the alleged killing of two of their kinsmen,” Nansel said.

The clashes caused extensive destruction in both communities. “Eleven people were killed, about 50 houses were burned in Akyawa, and two houses destroyed in Udege Kasa,” he added.

The police have launched a manhunt to identify and apprehend those responsible. Commissioner Jauro has directed tactical teams and investigative units to intensify efforts to track down and prosecute the perpetrators.

To prevent further lawlessness, additional security personnel have been deployed to the affected areas in collaboration with the military and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, aiming to restore lasting peace.

Residents have raised concerns that suspected Fulani militias, believed to be bandits, may be behind the attacks. Local sources reported that the assailants reportedly invaded Akyawa and Udege Kasa late Thursday night, suggesting a link to earlier attacks in nearby Sabon Gida (Gidan Ada Ogiri), where houses, farm produce, and valuables were destroyed.

The fresh attacks occurred less than 48 hours after the previous incident, heightening fears across neighboring communities. “It is becoming unbearable. They abduct at will and now invade our communities unchecked. People are living in fear and fleeing their homes,” one resident lamented.

Once known for mining and vibrant economic activities, these communities have recently been heavily impacted by insecurity, forcing residents to appeal to the Nasarawa State Government for urgent action to protect lives and property.

Residents also warned that continued violence could disrupt farming activities, as many farmers are preparing their lands for the new planting season amid fears of renewed attacks.

Political Earthquake: APC Rejects Review Of Primary Results, Leaving Aggrieved Aspirants In The Cold.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially closed the door on any potential review of its 2027 primary election results, despite ongoing protests and petitions from dissatisfied aspirants.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Party leadership has confirmed that work on the submitted results is complete, and the final list of candidates is being prepared for upload to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal. A senior official and member of the National Working Committee (NWC), speaking on the condition of anonymity, stated that no changes to the results are being considered, noting that the official timeline for primaries and appeals has already elapsed.

Response to Petitions

While many aggrieved aspirants—particularly from states like Lagos, Delta, Zamfara, Kogi, Rivers, Plateau, and Osun—have demanded fresh primaries, the party maintains that most of these complaints are without merit.

  • Frivolous Claims: According to party officials, reports from the election appeal panels found that many petitions were “frivolous” or centered on issues outside the scope of the primary process, such as pre-primary zoning disputes or candidate clearance concerns.

  • Limited Impact: The party noted that the vast majority of the 109 senatorial districts and 360 House of Representatives constituencies did not record any appeals, and valid appeals did not significantly alter the primary outcomes.

Impact on Candidates

The primaries, held between May 16 and 18, saw at least 54 serving federal lawmakers lose their bids for return tickets. As the party awaits the release of INEC access codes for its nomination portal, the leadership remains firm that the announced results are final and that no further review will be conducted.
