Rival Protests Thwarted: Heavy Security Keeps Peace At INEC HQ.

Chaos was narrowly avoided at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters as security agencies prevented a clash between pro- and anti-INEC protesters.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The tension followed INEC’s decision to delist the David Mark-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Both groups had planned demonstrations outside the INEC office, but heavy security deployment blocked access, leaving only one faction present.

By around 11 a.m., youths supporting INEC’s action gathered to protest against attempts to occupy the commission. They urged dissenting groups to seek redress through the courts instead of staging protests.

Speaking on behalf of Concerned Nigerian Youth, Adeyeye Olugbenga condemned attempts to disrupt INEC, emphasizing the commission’s compliance with court rulings. He said:

“INEC, as a law-abiding agency, acted within the court’s directives to derecognize the leadership of the ADC. Those dissatisfied should approach the court instead of attacking INEC. We, conscious Nigerian youths, will continue to support and defend INEC against any attempt to disrupt its operations.”

Olugbenga added that Nigerian youths remain vigilant, ready to mobilize in support of INEC whenever its independence or peace in the country is threatened.

‘The Judgement Made Me Happy’ – Ganduje Reveals Feelings During Okorocha Visit.

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, on Thursday paid a congratulatory visit to former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, at his residence in Abuja.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The visit followed a Federal High Court judgment in Abuja, which declared Okorocha the winner of the APC primary for the Imo West Senatorial District.

Speaking during the visit, Ganduje said he was pleased when he heard about the court ruling, describing it as a well-deserved victory for the former governor.

“I was excited when I heard the judgment. It is a well-deserved victory and a vindication of your struggle,” he told Okorocha.

In his response, the former Imo governor expressed appreciation to Ganduje for the visit, describing him as a genuine friend and brother who had stood by him during difficult moments.

Earlier on Thursday, Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered Governor Hope Uzodimma to stop presenting himself as the APC candidate for the Imo West senatorial election scheduled for January 16, 2027.

The judge ruled that Uzodimma did not emerge victorious in the party’s primary election conducted on May 18 and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to the court, the evidence presented showed that Okorocha secured the majority of votes cast during the primary and should therefore be recognised as the winner.

Justice Egwuatu consequently directed the APC to submit Okorocha’s name to INEC as its candidate for the senatorial election.

However, the Imo State Government has rejected the judgment and vowed to appeal the decision at the Court of Appeal.

The presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has criticised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over the inclusion of his party in the Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Makinde made the remarks on Thursday while speaking at the APM South-East Town Hall Meeting in Enugu.

The Oyo State Governor said he watched Wike unveil the Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State and was surprised when the minister mentioned the APM among the political parties that had joined the alliance.

Makinde also accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of making efforts to weaken opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He further alleged that the ruling party was pulling down opposition campaign posters and disrupting their political activities.

Despite what he described as intimidation and attempts to destabilise the opposition, Makinde insisted that his camp would remain focused on winning the support of Nigerians.

He said, “A few days ago, I saw my good friend, Nyesom Wike, who was unveiling the Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State, and he listed all the political parties in the coalition and mentioned APM. I said, ‘So APM has graduated to be added to the Rainbow Coalition?’

“They’ve tried to undermine almost all the opposition parties. They can try, pull down posters, disturb the campaigns, and give people money. We, on the other hand, are winning hearts.”
