The presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has criticised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over the inclusion of his party in the Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Makinde made the remarks on Thursday while speaking at the APM South-East Town Hall Meeting in Enugu.

The Oyo State Governor said he watched Wike unveil the Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State and was surprised when the minister mentioned the APM among the political parties that had joined the alliance.

Makinde also accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of making efforts to weaken opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He further alleged that the ruling party was pulling down opposition campaign posters and disrupting their political activities.

Despite what he described as intimidation and attempts to destabilise the opposition, Makinde insisted that his camp would remain focused on winning the support of Nigerians.

He said, “A few days ago, I saw my good friend, Nyesom Wike, who was unveiling the Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State, and he listed all the political parties in the coalition and mentioned APM. I said, ‘So APM has graduated to be added to the Rainbow Coalition?’

“They’ve tried to undermine almost all the opposition parties. They can try, pull down posters, disturb the campaigns, and give people money. We, on the other hand, are winning hearts.”

The Osun State Government has been barred by a High Court sitting in Ede from filling the vacant stool of the Olojo of Ojo in Egbedore Local Government Area.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The interim order was issued on October 29, 2026, by Justice K. Akano following an application filed by some princes from one of the town’s ruling houses.

The suit, marked HED/18/2026, was instituted by Princes Babatunde Adegoke, Taofeek Adegoke, Nathaniel Adelakun, Abiodun Adelakun and Olukunle Oyetunji, on behalf of themselves and other members of their family.

The applicants were represented by their counsel, A. Mikaheel.

Those listed as defendants include Governor Ademola Adeleke, the state Attorney-General, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and the Egbedore Traditional Council.

Prince Mike Abiola, representing the Onimolodun Ruling House, and High Chief Falowo Adebayo, on behalf of the kingmakers, were also joined in the suit.

In its ruling, the court restrained the defendants and anyone acting on their behalf from taking steps to install a new Olojo of Ojo until the claimants’ pending application is determined.

The judge specifically ordered:

“An order of interim injunction is hereby granted restraining the defendants, their allies, agents, privies, successors and/or whosoever is claiming through them from installing, appointing, declaring, recognising and/or accepting any candidate as Olojo of Ojo, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice filed on 11th March, 2026.”

The development comes amid another traditional leadership dispute in Ijabe, Odo-Otin Local Government Area, where four ruling houses have taken the state government to court.

The families are challenging the October 23, 2026, decision of the State Executive Council, which reportedly nullified the town’s 2018 amended chieftaincy declaration and approved Babatunde Tajudeen as the new Onijabe of Ijabeland.

On October 24, the state government announced Tajudeen’s appointment alongside those of other traditional rulers in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi.

Manchester United have reportedly identified Bassey as a potential addition following his impressive displays for Fulham, where the 26-year-old has become one of the club’s most consistent performers despite their difficult campaign.

According to TEAMtalk, United’s recruitment team have been monitoring the Nigerian international, whose performances have also earned him the captain’s armband at Craven Cottage.

Bassey’s current contract is due to expire next summer, although Fulham have the option of extending it by another year. The London club are keen to secure his long-term future but could face competition from several interested teams.

The Red Devils are reportedly planning a major squad overhaul in 2027, with Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire all approaching the final months of their contracts.

Martinez is also said to be considering an exit from Old Trafford, with Barcelona reportedly making enquiries about his availability.

Bassey’s experience in the Premier League and his versatility, which allows him to play both as a centre-back and left-back, have reportedly made him an appealing option for Manchester United.

However, the English club are not alone in monitoring the defender, as Newcastle United, Everton, Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are also said to be interested in his situation.

Meanwhile, Leeds United are reportedly considering a move for another Nigerian defender, Sanusi, when the January transfer window opens.

According to Football Insider, Leeds manager Daniel Farke wants to strengthen his left-back position and has identified the Porto player as a possible signing.

The 29-year-old could provide competition for Sweden international Gabriel Gudmundsson, who joined Leeds in 2025 and has impressed with his performances.

Leeds have reportedly considered signing Sanusi during the previous two transfer windows and have continued to monitor his situation.
