The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, said he discussed with President Bola Tinubu the measures needed to tackle the state’s security challenges.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Mutfwang made the remarks on Wednesday after visiting President Tinubu at the State House in Abuja to brief him on the recent killings in Plateau.

Reports indicate that suspected bandits attacked a popular bar in the Angwan Rukuba community of Jos North on March 29, leaving at least 28 people dead and several others injured. The attack triggered public outrage, prompting the state government to impose a 48-hour curfew in Jos North LGA.

Following the partial relaxation of the curfew on Wednesday, some hoodlums attacked motorists and commuters, causing renewed panic in parts of Jos.

Speaking to a State House correspondent after the meeting, Mutfwang described the incident as “an act of terrorism” and lamented that authorities still do not know the identities or motives of the attackers.

He said, “We imposed a curfew, which we relaxed yesterday into this morning, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Unfortunately, some looters tried to disrupt the peace this morning. But I’m glad the security forces were able to restore calm by 12 noon, and the situation is now under control.

“This should be a decisive turning point, and I believe we will see more proactive measures going forward. In a crisis of this nature, you cannot reduce it to a single cause—it involves multiple factors. True motives can only be understood once you can question both the victims and the attackers. Unfortunately, we have not yet apprehended the attackers, so their identities and motives remain unknown.

“Based on what we see, this is an act of criminality—it’s barbaric.”

President Tinubu is expected to visit Jos on Thursday to assess the situation.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.
