‘Enough Is Enough!’ – CAN Slams Plateau Killings, Says Nigerians Are Tired Of Mourning.
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called for urgent and decisive action following the recent killings in Plateau State, urging authorities to arrest and prosecute those behind the attack.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
CAN President, Daniel Okoh, described the incident as tragic and unacceptable, stressing that Nigerians are increasingly frustrated with recurring violence and official statements that fail to translate into concrete action.
In a statement issued late Monday, Okoh expressed concern over the rising wave of attacks, particularly the latest incident in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area.
“Nigerians are tired of mourning. Nigerians are tired of statements. Nigerians want to see action,” he said.
“Those responsible for this atrocity must be found, arrested, and brought to justice swiftly and decisively. Anything less will only deepen the belief that lives are no longer adequately protected in our country.”
The attack, which occurred on Sunday, reportedly claimed 28 lives and left several others injured, sparking outrage and protests within the community.
CAN stated that the incident has further eroded public trust and must be thoroughly investigated to prevent a recurrence. The group also urged security agencies to be proactive in addressing emerging threats rather than merely reacting to them.
While acknowledging efforts by the Plateau State Government, Okoh cautioned that temporary measures would not be sufficient.
“Temporary responses are not enough. The people of Plateau—and indeed all Nigerians—deserve lasting security, not periodic reassurance,” he added.
The organisation urged citizens to remain calm but vigilant, insisting that justice must be delivered for the victims while ensuring the safety of others.
“We owe the dead justice. We owe the living protection. And we owe our future a country where no community wakes up to violence on a sacred day,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang confirmed that 28 people lost their lives in the attack, describing the incident as deeply painful.
“This tragic event resulted in the loss of 28 innocent lives and left many others injured. I deeply feel the pain inflicted on our people,” he said in a statewide broadcast.
Despite the tragedy, the governor assured residents that the state would remain resilient, pledging to strengthen security measures.
“We will emerge stronger, united, and committed to peace. Every available resource will be deployed to protect lives, property, and the territorial integrity of our state,” he said.
Mutfwang also visited the affected community and injured victims on Monday, as the state government imposed a curfew in the area to restore order.

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
