“Trump Slams Germany For Refusing To Support U.S. In War On Iran”.
United States President Donald Trump has slammed German leaders for declining to participate in a military campaign against Iran, describing their stance as inappropriate given America’s support for European allies in Ukraine.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Trump specifically targeted German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who had stated that the Iran conflict “does not concern Germany.” The former U.S. president contrasted Washington’s assistance to Ukraine with his expectation that European nations, including Germany, should offer similar support in the Middle East.
He also suggested that tensions over Ukraine are easing and that a resolution might be possible, but emphasized that Germany’s refusal to provide military support to the U.S. was unacceptable.
German officials publicly rejected involvement in the Iran campaign last week, prompting Trump’s criticism.
Germany Stands Firm
A spokesperson for Chancellor Merz reiterated that Berlin sees the Iran conflict as outside NATO’s responsibilities.
“This war has nothing to do with NATO. It is not NATO’s war,” the spokesperson said, confirming Germany never planned to participate.
German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius also questioned the practicality of U.S. requests for European naval support.
“What does Trump expect a handful or two of European frigates to do in the Strait of Hormuz that the powerful U.S. Navy cannot handle? This is not our war; we have not started it,” Pistorius remarked.
Trump Contrasts Ukraine and Iran
Trump highlighted the contrast with America’s involvement in Ukraine:
“I think that’s calming down a little bit, and I think we have a chance of getting it done, but it doesn’t affect us thousands of miles away,” he said regarding Ukraine.
“That’s why when I heard the head of Germany say, ‘This is not our war’ about Iran, I thought it was very inappropriate. Ukraine’s not our war either, but we helped. You can’t erase what was said, but he felt that way,” Trump added.
The disagreement underscores rising tensions between Washington and Berlin over international military burden-sharing and raises questions about future U.S. commitments to European allies, particularly as the Ukraine-Russia peace talks continue.
