APC Convention: Aminu Masari Reveals Why Some Aspirants Were Dropped

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Convention Central Coordination Committee, Aminu Masari, has justified the party’s decision to deny some aspirants access to nomination forms.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking in Abuja on Thursday during the APC World Media Briefing ahead of the party’s 8th National Convention scheduled for March 27–28, 2026, Masari alleged that those protesting the decision may be acting to destabilise the ruling party.

The former Katsina State governor explained that the APC operates a zoning system, with party offices and working committee positions allocated across different regions in line with the federal character principle.

According to him, only aspirants contesting positions designated to their respective zones were allowed to purchase nomination forms, while those attempting to contest outside their zones raised suspicion.

“APC is a responsible Nigerian party. In line with federal character, all offices are zoned,” he said.

Masari added that individuals seeking forms for positions not assigned to their zones could be trying to create confusion within the party, stressing that such actions would not be tolerated. He questioned how such aspirants could claim unfair treatment when they were going against established party guidelines.

He further stated that the party had not received any legal challenge over the matter, noting that it would respond appropriately if served with court processes.

The briefing was attended by several key figures, including Hannatu Musawa, Festus Keyamo, Pius Anyim, Sunday Dare, and Bayo Onanuga, among other party stakeholders.
