“Dele Momodu Clarifies: ‘Atiku And Peter Obi Do Not Own ADC!’”.
Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and media entrepreneur, has called on the party to adopt a focused and strategic approach if it hopes to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking in a television interview, Momodu emphasized that unity, experience, and careful political planning are essential for the opposition to effectively challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Winning an election is not about the crowd, the noise, or how brilliant your ideas are,” he said, stressing that electoral success goes beyond public enthusiasm or political rhetoric.
Momodu described Tinubu as a formidable opponent whose defeat requires more than mere popularity. “Tinubu is so formidable that you cannot simply produce a candidate to take him out. It doesn’t work that way,” he added.
Highlighting the importance of political structures and adequate resources, he said, “You need structures. I was part of the Buhari movement—the amount of money spent on monitoring every polling unit nationwide is what wins elections.”
He also pointed to ethnicity, religion, and financial strength as major factors in electoral outcomes. “The three major factors that affect elections are ethnicity, religion, and a lot of cash,” he noted.
Warning that time is short for the opposition to organize effectively ahead of the 2027 polls, Momodu urged swift action: “Time is not on our side. We must come together immediately and make a decision. How? I don’t know, but it must be done.”
Addressing leadership within the ADC, Momodu clarified that no individual can claim ownership of the party. “There is no one in our party who can say they own it—not Atiku Abubakar, not Peter Obi. ADC will determine who gets the ticket based on strategy, not the dictate of one man or woman,” he said.
Momodu also highlighted that the party already has credible figures familiar with national elections. “You do not need to reinvent the wheel. There are people who have gone through this process and understand the challenges,” he said, referring to leaders like Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.
He dismissed the notion of an unwritten agreement that political power must rotate between the North and South. “There has never been a time when the North did eight years and the South automatically got eight years. The constitution does not stop anyone from contesting,” he stressed.
Momodu advised the ADC to focus on northern Nigeria, citing dissatisfaction within the ruling APC. “Go to the North, where there is crisis and dissatisfaction. Those who worked for Tinubu feel abandoned. That is where the opportunity lies,” he said.
He also called for compromise among opposition leaders to avoid fragmentation. “There is no time to start building from scratch. Let those with experience lead, and others can be accommodated. That is the only way to face this kind of political structure,” he said.
Concluding, Momodu emphasized the need for strategic competition over financial or structural rivalry with Tinubu: “We must be technical about this game. You cannot compete with Tinubu in money or structure, so you must compete with strategy. Those who have ears, let them hear.”

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.
The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.
Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.
He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.
“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.
Meanwhile, comedians Ayobami Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, and Olamide Oladimeji, also known as Dele Omo Woli, have threatened legal action against individuals allegedly linking them to Toluwanisings’ death.
Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.
In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.
The legal notice maintained that the allegations were baseless and intended to damage the reputations of the two entertainers.

The award-winning actress made this revelation during an interview with CNN journalist Larry Madowo, where she spoke candidly about her emotional struggles and the pressures that come with being a public figure.
Akindele disclosed that when things become overwhelming, she sometimes locks herself in her room to cry and release her emotions. However, she said she eventually gathers the strength to pick herself up and face life’s challenges.
The filmmaker also discussed the pressure of living in the public eye, particularly the scrutiny surrounding her marriages and relationship breakups.
She admitted that there are moments when she questions her decisions and worries about how people might judge her choices.
“I cry. I lock myself in the room, cry, break down, hit the bed. But I just pick up myself and come back to life. Sometimes I tell myself, ah, you’ve made a mistake again. How are people going to judge you?
“Do you care about that? Why don’t you just brace up, face it, face the challenges, move on in life? I’ve noticed over the years that it’s not all about the work. You need to take care of yourself. You need to love yourself. You need to have time for your family, your loved ones, because as the work would go, the family would be there,” she said.
Akindele further emphasised the importance of self-care, self-love and making time for family, noting that professional success should not come at the expense of personal well-being and relationships.
