According to a statement by Folasade Boriowo, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education, the selected students are developing solutions in key sectors critical to national development.
A flagship programme of President Bola Tinubu, the initiative aims to boost innovation and entrepreneurship among young Nigerians, supporting ventures with high potential for scalability and impact.
Speaking on the development, Education Minister Maruf Alausa described the programme as a strategic investment in the nation’s future.
“The quality and ambition demonstrated by these 65 student innovators is deeply encouraging. Reaching this stage is a significant milestone, and I look forward to seeing these ventures refined and scaled. This initiative is building a strong pipeline of innovators and entrepreneurs to drive Nigeria’s growth,” he said.
Launched in December 2025 in partnership with the Bank of Industry, the grant offers up to ₦50 million in equity-free funding to student-led ventures that have reached the commercialisation stage, helping them scale, create jobs, and contribute to economic growth.
The selection process involved multiple stages, including AI-enabled screening for eligibility, human validation, and evaluation by a committee of government, academia, industry, and investment experts. Ventures were assessed on scalability, feasibility, founder capability, and potential impact.
The 65 finalists will attend an intensive venture development bootcamp from March 26–29, 2026, featuring pitch sessions, workshops, live evaluations, and investor-style feedback. Final grant recipients will be determined based on application scores, bootcamp performance, and committee recommendations.
The programme will culminate with the Student Venture Capital Grant Beneficiary Awards Day on March 29, 2026, where winners of the ₦50 million funding will be officially announced.
The ministry emphasised that the initiative reflects its commitment to nurturing innovation, empowering student entrepreneurs, and building scalable ventures that can transform Nigeria’s economy.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.
The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.
Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.
He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.
“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.
Meanwhile, comedians Ayobami Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, and Olamide Oladimeji, also known as Dele Omo Woli, have threatened legal action against individuals allegedly linking them to Toluwanisings’ death.
Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.
In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.
The legal notice maintained that the allegations were baseless and intended to damage the reputations of the two entertainers.
