The Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau State has suspended its Southern Zone Vice Chairman, Mankup Peter Tongshep, for one month over alleged anti-party activities.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to Nivo News, the suspension takes immediate effect and was approved by the party’s State Working Committee in a statement released on Thursday in Jos. The statement, signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Choji Felix Dalyop, noted that the decision was in line with Section 57(1) of the party’s 2017 constitution (as amended).

The party said the action followed alleged breaches captured under Sections 58(1)(i) and (j), which were identified after a preliminary review. As part of the disciplinary measure, Tongshep has been barred from carrying out his official responsibilities throughout the duration of the suspension.

It was further disclosed that the matter has been forwarded to the State Disciplinary Committee for a comprehensive investigation and necessary recommendations, in accordance with Section 57(3) of the party’s constitution.

The Plateau chapter of the PDP reiterated its commitment to enforcing discipline and upholding the rule of law within its ranks, emphasizing that no member is above the party’s regulations.

The development comes amid an intensifying internal crisis within the party in Plateau State, marked by the emergence of rival leadership factions. One of the factions, reportedly aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, had earlier conducted a parallel congress in Jos, during which Tongshep was announced as state chairman, a move rejected by the party’s recognized leadership.

In a related reaction, a founding member of the party, Damishi Sango, defended the parallel congress, describing it as a necessary step to preserve the party’s structure in the state. He maintained that the exercise, which he said was conducted peacefully, produced Tongshep alongside 38 other executives.

Sango insisted that his faction represents the legitimate leadership of the party, while dismissing the rival group led by Raymond Dabo as unlawful. Despite the disagreements, he stated that he holds no personal grievances against Dabo, whom he described as a long-time associate.

He also urged party members to put aside their differences and work collectively towards strengthening the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The lingering crisis has further deepened divisions within the Plateau PDP, with competing factions continuing to lay claim to the party’s leadership in the state.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.
