Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has returned to full training as he prepares for a highly anticipated comeback this summer, months after surviving a tragic car accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two close associates.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Joshua, 34, has not fought since defeating Jake Paul via sixth-round stoppage in Miami on December 19. Shortly after, his career was thrown into uncertainty when a fatal crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway killed his personal trainer, Kevin Ayodele, and recovery therapist, Sina Ghami. Joshua survived the accident but spent recent months recovering physically and grieving the loss of his friends.

He gradually resumed training at Finchley Amateur Boxing Club, where his career began, before reuniting with coach Iegor Golub, who also guided him during the victory over Paul. Golub joined Joshua’s team after the Briton parted ways with Ben Davison following his defeat to Daniel Dubois in September 2024.

Promoter Eddie Hearn described Joshua’s progress as promising. “We are very close to returning to full training camp. AJ is physically and mentally ready to immerse himself back into that environment,” Hearn said. “Given everything he’s been through, the pain won’t simply disappear, but he has a career to continue, and I’m thrilled to see him back.”

A July comeback fight is now being targeted, after an earlier March bout in Saudi Arabia was postponed due to the accident. Speculation is already building around a potential blockbuster clash with Tyson Fury later in the year. Fury is scheduled to return to the ring on April 11 against Arslanbek Makhmudov as the heavyweight division looks toward a decisive second half of 2026.
