A statement issued by Commandant Akintayo Saidi Ayinla and made available on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, by the Public Relations Officer, Ogbebor Efosa, highlighted that the deployment is part of proactive measures to guarantee a peaceful and safe celebration for residents, especially Muslim faithful observing the festive period.
The personnel were drawn from specialised units including the Armed Squad, Female Special Squad, Counter Terrorism Unit, Disaster Management Unit, and the Commandant’s Monitoring Team. They have been strategically positioned across the three senatorial districts of the state to secure critical locations such as markets, recreational centres, prayer grounds, highways, and other vulnerable points.
Commandant Ayinla emphasised that the NSCDC will collaborate closely with other security agencies to ensure rapid response to emergencies, effective intelligence gathering, and uninterrupted public safety throughout the celebrations. Area Commanders and Divisional Officers have been directed to intensify patrols and implement proactive security measures in their jurisdictions.
While congratulating Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, the Commandant urged peaceful celebrations in accordance with the law and warned individuals with criminal intentions to stay away, assuring the public of the Corps’ readiness to decisively respond to any threats. The NSCDC reaffirmed its commitment to protecting critical national assets and ensuring the safety of all Edo residents.

She made the statement during an interview with Pulse while reacting to ongoing debates about modern relationships being overly transactional.
According to the ‘Bottom Belle’ singer, the concept isn’t new but has evolved over time, becoming more demanding compared to earlier years.
She explained that in the past, simple gestures like buying ice cream or popcorn were enough to impress a woman, but today, expectations have grown significantly due to modern lifestyle and economic realities.
Omawumi also noted that society often exaggerates the transactional nature of relationships by overlooking the role women play in reciprocation. She added that many men who complain about such dynamics often choose partners with expensive tastes.
“Love has always been transactional. Women have always been demanding since the beginning of time. Back then, you could impress your crush with ice cream and popcorn, but now it’s something like an iPhone,” she said.
In a related development, the singer recently spoke about her past relationships with late rapper Dagrin and late producer Dokta Frabz during an interview with Jay On Air.
She described her relationship with Dagrin as purely platonic, noting that they were close and spent time together but were never romantically involved, despite past rumours following their 2009 collaboration, “Thank God.”
However, Omawumi confirmed that she was romantically involved with the late producer Dokta Frabz.
