The Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Council Manager, Bakare Olakunle Olanrewaju, has passed away in India following a prolonged battle with a cancer-related illness. Bakare, who was reportedly in his late 50s, had been receiving medical treatment in India prior to his passing. Sakirudeen described him as a dedicated public servant who earned the respect of colleagues throughout his career. “Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Council Manager, Mr. Bakare, dies after a protracted illness. He passed away in India a few days ago due to a cancer-related ailment,” Sakirudeen said.
He also praised Bakare’s professionalism and calm demeanor, recalling their collaboration on multiple projects. “Bakare was a level-headed, brilliant officer, a friend and brother. He shall be sorely missed. It is so painful losing him this early,” he added.
Friends and colleagues have expressed grief over his passing, praying for the repose of his soul and for strength for his family during this difficult period. Bakare was widely regarded as a committed administrator whose contributions to local government administration will be remembered by all who worked with him.
