One of the victims of Monday night’s multiple explosions in Maiduguri, Borno State, Abacha Mustapha, has recounted the harrowing moment the blasts occurred, leaving him seriously injured.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to reports, the explosions resulted in 23 confirmed deaths and left many others with shrapnel wounds and burns. Mustapha, speaking from his hospital bed at Umaru Shehu Hospital in Maiduguri, said he was preparing to leave the market after closing his shop when the first bomb detonated.
He described the scene as chaotic, with traders and residents fleeing in all directions. Mustapha credited his brother for saving his life, saying he used a cloth to stem the bleeding from his neck and rushed him to the hospital. “We had just broken our fast and were leaving when the first bomb exploded. It was chaotic. People were running, some fell, and others were shouting. I couldn’t understand what had happened at first,” he said.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu expressed deep sorrow over the attacks, describing the incident as painful and assuring Borno State residents that the Federal Government would intensify efforts to defeat insurgents. In a statement personally signed on Tuesday, he sympathized with families who lost loved ones and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
“The recent news from Maiduguri, Borno State, is profoundly upsetting. I mourn those who lost their lives, sympathize with the injured, and stand in solidarity with the people of Borno during this challenging time,” the President said. He described the attacks as “final desperate and frantic attempts” by terrorists increasingly under pressure from Nigerian security forces.
