According to Nivo News, the operation involved personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Department of State Services, and the Ondo State Security Network Agency. The coordinated security exercise was carried out to reassure residents and send a strong warning to criminal elements operating within the state.
The joint operation was led by the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, alongside the Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, and the Commanding Officer of the 323 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army. Security chiefs stated that the exercise was aimed at demonstrating the readiness of law enforcement agencies to confront criminal activities and maintain public safety.
Officials explained that beyond patrols within towns and urban centres, security operatives would also extend their operations to forests and remote areas where criminals may be hiding. Adeleye noted that joint teams would carry out bush-combing exercises and thoroughly search various parts of the state in an effort to tackle kidnapping and other forms of crime. He stressed that the operation would be continuous until security is fully strengthened across the state.
Lawal also noted that the coordinated show of force was necessary to reassure residents that security agencies remain firmly in control of the situation, particularly in areas such as Akure North where recent incidents have been reported. He added that the exercise is part of broader security preparations ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Adha celebrations, with authorities determined to ensure a peaceful environment for residents.
