Former Emir Sanusi Explains Why He Stayed Calm After Removal.

The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has said that many people wrongly credit individuals for power and outcomes, instead of recognising that changes in life happen only by the will of God.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Sanusi made the remark during the Fola Adeola Annual Ramadan Lecture, where he explained why he remained calm after losing two of the most influential positions he once held.

Speaking on faith and resilience, the monarch recounted how his trust in God helped him endure challenging moments, including his suspension as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and his eventual removal as Emir of Kano.

He also warned against degrading oneself in search of favour from influential figures, stressing that many people mistakenly believe their success depends entirely on powerful individuals.

According to him, “Too often in our lives, we attribute things to human beings, but they are all created. Remembering that situations are not permanent and that Allah can change your circumstances helps you cope and behave properly.

“I have seen people beg, cringe and bow before others. They humiliate themselves because they believe someone holds the key to their position.

“I was suspended as governor of the central bank, and three months later I became an emir.

“Years later, I was removed as emir, but four years after that I returned. Today I’m back in the same palace, sitting on my throne. There may be challenges, but ultimately you hold on to God. You don’t panic.”

Sanusi further revealed that after he was dethroned, he spent his time away from Kano focusing on academic pursuits to avoid situations that could have been humiliating.

He stressed that losing a position should never be seen as the end of one’s purpose, urging people to remain firm in their principles.

“I often think about what might have happened if I had stayed in Kano over the past four years — the humiliation I might have faced, the people I would have had to deal with and report to. But God was merciful and kind. He took me away and gave me an opportunity. I went on to complete a PhD and now I’m back.

“If I’m removed from positions, it’s not a big issue. At the end of the day, I ask myself whether I have done anything to offend God,” he said.

“It is better to walk away and stand by your principles than to remain and earn the wrath of Allah.”

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.

Meanwhile, comedians Ayobami Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, and Olamide Oladimeji, also known as Dele Omo Woli, have threatened legal action against individuals allegedly linking them to Toluwanisings’ death.

Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.

In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.

The legal notice maintained that the allegations were baseless and intended to damage the reputations of the two entertainers.
