“Osimhen And Galatasaray Stars Set For €5M Bonus Ahead Of Liverpool Showdown”.
Victor Osimhen and his Galatasaray S.K. teammates have been promised a €5 million bonus if they knock Liverpool F.C. out of the UEFA Champions League.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to reports from Turkey, Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek offered the incentive if the club secures a spot in the quarter-finals following their 1-0 first-leg victory over Liverpool in the round of 16.
Turkish journalist Ali Naci Küçük revealed that the bonus proposal came from Osimhen himself during talks with the club’s leadership.
“Victor Osimhen said, ‘If we eliminate Liverpool, let the bonus be €5m,’ and President Dursun Özbek accepted this,” Küçük reported.
Advancing to the quarter-finals would also bring additional financial rewards for the Istanbul side, with UEFA expected to award around €12 million in prize money for progression.
Osimhen played a key role in Galatasaray’s first-leg triumph at RAMS Park, setting up the match’s only goal. The Nigerian striker headed a corner back across goal for Mario Lemina to nod past goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili after just seven minutes, giving his team a narrow lead heading into the return leg at Anfield on March 18.
The evening was particularly emotional for Osimhen. Just before kick-off, Galatasaray fans unveiled a tifo in memory of his late mother. As the Champions League anthem played, the 27-year-old was visibly moved, struggling to hold back tears.
Despite the emotional moment, Osimhen delivered a commanding performance, helping the Turkish champions secure a crucial first-leg advantage.
Looking ahead to the decisive clash in England, Osimhen praised his teammates and expressed confidence in the squad’s ability to rise to the occasion.
“Every time we play here it’s so emotional for us. Aside from that, the victory is important,” he said.
“We know next week is going to be really tough, but I believe in this team and the kind of performance we put in against a very strong side like Liverpool. I’m optimistic that we can make an impact at Anfield.”
Since making his move to Galatasaray permanent last summer, Osimhen has been one of the team’s standout performers. The Nigerian forward has scored seven goals and provided three assists in nine Champions League appearances this season. He has also netted 11 goals and contributed four assists in the Turkish Süper Lig, bringing his overall tally across all competitions to 18 goals and seven assists.
