Bloodshed In Borno: Army Reclaims Ngoshe As Defence Minister Summons Service Chiefs.

Nigerian troops have successfully regained control of a Forward Operating Base in Ngoshe town, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, after launching a fresh offensive against insurgents in the area.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The operation involved personnel of the Nigerian Army working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), local vigilantes and hunters who joined efforts to flush out the terrorists from the community.

The development followed a deadly attack carried out by Boko Haram fighters in Ngoshe last week. During the assault, at least 14 soldiers and several civilians were reportedly killed, while more than 100 women and children were abducted by the insurgents, deepening fears over the deteriorating security situation in Nigeria’s North-East region.

Security sources familiar with the operation disclosed that troops initially deployed to stabilise the area had to withdraw temporarily after intelligence indicated that the insurgents were mobilising for a large-scale counterattack.

Reports indicate that the General Officer Commanding had earlier visited Pulka, where about 200 troops were assembled and later deployed to Ngoshe to evaluate the security situation and reinforce the military presence in the area.

However, the troops reportedly noticed unusual movements suggesting a buildup of insurgents planning a fresh attack. As a result, the soldiers stationed in the town withdrew to Pulka to avoid being overwhelmed.

A military insider explained that roughly 60 soldiers had remained in the area but later pulled back after observing a significant movement of terrorists preparing to launch an offensive.

The brigade commander in Gwoza later reassured the troops that reinforcements would be provided, prompting the military to launch a renewed assault on the insurgents.

Following intense gun battles with the remaining fighters, the troops succeeded in reclaiming Ngoshe, with security sources confirming that the town has now been fully brought back under military control.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, on Wednesday summoned Nigeria’s service chiefs to Abuja amid growing concerns over the resurgence of terrorist attacks in Borno State.

During the meeting, the minister disclosed that the military leadership had agreed to reassess and strengthen its operational strategies in order to intensify the ongoing fight against insurgents across the region.

He acknowledged that the military had suffered casualties in recent confrontations but insisted that the insurgents had recorded heavier losses during the clashes.

Security officials also revealed that at least three commanding officers holding the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel were recently killed in separate terrorist attacks in Borno.

In addition to the senior officers, several soldiers were reportedly killed in the assaults, while hundreds of civilians abducted during recent raids by insurgents are still believed to be held captive.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.
