Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has expressed concern over protests by residents of some communities in Akure North Local Government Area over rising insecurity.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

He urged community leaders and traditional rulers to restrain youths involved in criminal acts, warning that such demonstrations could be exploited by hoodlums.

Aiyedatiwa made the remarks while meeting with stakeholders and leaders of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) at his office in Akure, amid ongoing killings and abductions in the area.

The protest erupted after youths from Ilu-Abo and neighboring communities blocked the busy Akure-Owo highway with the body of a middle-aged man allegedly killed by kidnappers on Tuesday morning. Frustrated by repeated security lapses, the youths criticized the government for its lack of response.

During the meeting, the governor noted that the youths had initially agreed to suspend the protest following intervention by security agencies, but the demonstration was later hijacked by unknown individuals.

“That is why we always tell people that protest should not be the first line of action. Once it starts, you cannot control who gets involved,” he said.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.
