Abati Tells Daniel Bwala To Take Legal Action Against Al Jazeera Over Alleged Edited Interview.
Arise News anchor Reuben Abati has urged presidential aide Daniel Bwala to provide evidence supporting his claim that his interview with Al Jazeera was doctored.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Abati advised Bwala to take the matter to court without further delay.
Bwala had earlier told Daddy Freeze that his conversation with Mehdi Hasan was manipulated by Al Jazeera.
On Wednesday’s edition of Arise News’ The Morning Show, Abati criticized Bwala for agreeing to the interview in the first place, noting that the aide would learn valuable lessons from the experience.
Abati, who appeared critical of Mehdi Hasan’s journalistic style, emphasized the importance of standards and professionalism.
“I’ve spoken before about what some call ‘style journalism,’ which may simply be poor journalism. We’ve seen what looks like ambush journalism. Hasan isn’t apologetic about it, but he has a platform that supports him.
“There’s no excuse for ‘style’ over substance. Professionalism and good faith matter. Even if a program is called Head to Head, there’s an expected standard of civility and preparation.
“I’m not here to lecture on journalism, but Daniel Bwala made himself available for that ambush without sufficient preparation. That’s a lesson he should have learned.
“From my experience managing high-level interviews, if you know someone might ambush you or edit your words, you must prepare. One approach is to record the interview yourself. Even a small recorder would serve as proof if you’re later misrepresented. If Bwala had done that, he could have provided evidence to support his claim.
“Misrepresentation is an offense. If it happens, you can sue for damages or demand the original interview be released. That should be Bwala’s next step—to pursue legal action and insist the unedited interview is published.
“He’s new to this arena, but this experience will teach him the necessary lessons.”
