“I Left PDP For APC Because…” – Rivers Senator Ipalibo Banigo Speaks Out.

Banigo announced her resignation on the Senate floor during plenary on Tuesday, March 10, stating her intention to align politically with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
In a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the senator emphasized her desire to support initiatives aimed at advancing development in Rivers State. She added that her decision to join the APC came after extensive consultations with her constituents and political allies.
Meanwhile, Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, described himself as the ‘last man standing’ in the PDP, revealing that he had tried to remain in the party and help resolve its internal challenges.
However, Lawal said Monday’s Appeal Court ruling, which did not validate the PDP’s Ibadan National Convention, left him with no option but to leave the party.
According to a statement by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, the governor cited ongoing litigation and internal crises within the PDP as key reasons for his defection to the APC. He noted that despite being the only governor seeking a second term who stayed with the PDP in hopes of reconciliation, all efforts at peace and out-of-court settlements failed.
Lawal concluded that joining the APC was necessary to serve the best interests of the people of Zamfara State.
