NFF Disciplinary Actions
Gombe United vs Jigawa Golden Stars
Following a protest by Gombe United FC over their 21 December 2025 Nigeria National League (NNL) match against Jigawa Golden Stars FC, the NFF Disciplinary Committee handed down sanctions. Investigations revealed that the centre referee, Terwase Chia, initially awarded a goal kick at 90+4 minutes, which was later changed to a penalty after fans encroached on the pitch. Conflicting match reports were also submitted by the referee.
As a result, Chia has been suspended for the remainder of the season for professional misconduct. Gombe United were fined ₦1 million for crowd encroachment, while Jigawa Golden Stars received a ₦500,000 fine for refusing to continue the match in protest. The match result stands at 0-0.
Wikki Tourist FC
In a separate case, Wikki Tourist FC faced penalties following their 8 February 2026 NPFL fixture against Katsina United FC at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium. Sanctions included:
-
₦2 million for insufficient security
-
₦1 million for unsporting behavior
-
₦1 million for throwing dangerous objects
Additionally, their home stadium sanction was reduced to a five-match ban, effective immediately.
Kwara United FC
Kwara United FC was also sanctioned after their 18 February 2026 NPFL match against Rivers United FC in Ilorin. The club allowed unauthorized persons into restricted areas, and supporters harassed and injured the referee, visiting players, and officials.
Penalties included:
-
₦2 million for security breaches
-
₦1 million for failing to control supporters
-
₦2 million for compensating officials and the away team
-
