The advisory was issued in Abuja by the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nigeria and signed by the ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa.

According to the ministry, the emergency contacts are intended to help Nigerians residing in or travelling within the Middle East quickly reach diplomatic missions for assistance as tensions continue to rise in the conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States.

The ministry stated that the contact list covers Nigerian diplomatic missions in 10 countries across the region impacted by the ongoing hostilities.

It urged Nigerians in affected areas to maintain regular communication with the nearest Nigerian embassy or consulate.

“Further to established communication channels publicised by the various Nigerian missions in the Middle East region, Nigerian citizens affected by the ongoing crisis should contact the following mobile numbers in case of emergency and also ensure that they are registered with the respective embassy or consulate in their country of residence,” the statement read.

The ministry provided the following emergency numbers for Nigerian diplomatic missions in the region:

NiDCOM Debunks Distress Claims

Meanwhile, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has dismissed reports circulating online claiming that Nigerians in Iran had not sent distress calls despite the ongoing crisis.

The clarification was contained in a statement signed by the commission’s Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols, Abdur-Rahman Balogun.

The regional crisis intensified after joint airstrikes reportedly carried out by Israel and the United States killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.

Since then, Tehran has reportedly launched retaliatory attacks on US-linked assets and strategic interests across the Middle East.

Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, recently revealed that about 12,000 Nigerians currently reside in the United Arab Emirates.

The Middle East also remains a major religious destination for Nigerians, with Christian pilgrims frequently travelling to Israel and Muslim pilgrims visiting Saudi Arabia for religious rites.

However, Nigerian authorities earlier suspended pilgrimages to Israel and the occupied West Bank due to security concerns linked to the escalating crisis in the region.

According to the source, the twins maintained a daily routine of speaking around midnight, but the conversation took a sudden turn that night when unusual activity was noticed at the General’s end.

He said the line went dead abruptly after the General paused during the call, apparently due to the unfolding situation at the base.

The twin brother reportedly made repeated attempts to reconnect, sending messages and calling continuously, but received no response throughout the night.

“He kept trying until about 4 am, but there was no answer,” the source said.

The relative described the incident as devastating, noting that communication had broken down during the assault.

The late General was later buried alongside other fallen soldiers in Maiduguri, Borno State.
