Iran Strikes Dubai, Saudi Arabia Despite Promise To Spare Gulf States.

Published

on

Iran has intensified missile and drone strikes across multiple Gulf states despite earlier assurances from President Masoud Pezeshkian that Tehran would refrain from targeting neighbouring countries unless attacks originated from their territories.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The escalation comes amid ongoing military tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.

On Saturday, a resident of the United Arab Emirates was killed in Dubai’s Al Barsha area when debris from an intercepted missile strike fell on a vehicle. The Dubai Media Office identified the victim as an Asian driver but did not release further details.

The incident occurred as the UAE confirmed it was responding to “incoming missile and drone threats from Iran.”

Iran has targeted several US military installations in the Gulf, including bases in Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, and Kuwait, in retaliation for what Tehran described as “pre-emptive” strikes carried out by the United States and Israel last week.

Earlier, President Pezeshkian had apologised to affected neighbouring states and stated that Iran had instructed its armed forces not to strike regional countries unless directly involved in hostilities.

Despite the pledge, Gulf nations have reported continuing Iranian strikes. Qatar’s Ministry of Defence said its forces successfully intercepted a missile attack, while Saudi Arabia reported that a ballistic missile targeted Prince Sultan Air Base near Al-Kharj but landed in an unpopulated area.

Authorities across the region confirmed that air defence systems are intercepting ballistic missiles, while fighter jets engage drones and other aerial threats.

Iranian officials insist that the attacks are aimed solely at US military assets, not at Gulf states themselves. Alaeddin Boroujerdi, a member of Iran’s parliament national security and foreign policy commission, stated that the policy had been clearly communicated to regional governments.

He said, “Before the start of the ‘Ramadan war’, we informed every country in the region that if the United States takes military action against Iran, we will target American bases. These bases are considered American territory, not that of the host countries; this policy remains unchanged.”

However, some Gulf states have reported that Iranian strikes have affected civilian infrastructure, including oil refineries, airports, and hotels.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said its forces “respect the interests and national sovereignty of neighbouring countries and have not attacked them.”

The IRGC added: “Nevertheless, in continuation of previous offensive actions, all military bases and interests of the criminal America and the fake Zionist regime in the region—on land, sea, and in the air—will face crushing and decisive strikes.”

Abolfazl Shekarchi warned that any country allowing its territory or airspace to be used against Iran would be considered a legitimate target.

Meanwhile, foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council are scheduled to meet on Sunday as regional tensions continue to escalate.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.

Meanwhile, comedians Ayobami Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, and Olamide Oladimeji, also known as Dele Omo Woli, have threatened legal action against individuals allegedly linking them to Toluwanisings’ death.

Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.

In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.
