ADC Urges Women To Take Lead, Shape Nigeria’s Future.

As Nigeria marks International Women’s Day 2026, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on women to take active roles in politics and leadership to help build a more inclusive nation.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement on Sunday, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, noted that Nigerian women shoulder a disproportionate share of social and economic responsibilities but remain largely underrepresented in decision-making positions.

“From mothers and teachers to doctors, nurses, and entrepreneurs, women sustain our nation every day. Yet their voices are often missing when decisions about our future are made,” the statement read.

The ADC highlighted that its National Working Committee is intentionally structured to include women and stressed that it is the only political party in Nigeria whose constitution reserves 40 percent of all positions at every level for women.

“For the ADC, women are essential partners in nation-building, and empowering them strengthens Nigeria’s democracy. When Nigerian women rise, the nation rises with them,” Abdullahi added.

The party encouraged more women across the country to join its platform and play an active role in shaping Nigeria’s political and democratic future.

“To the ADC, women are indispensable to the future of Nigerian democracy. A nation of over 200 million people cannot reach its full potential when half of its population remains underrepresented in political leadership. Nigeria’s democracy will only grow stronger when its institutions reflect the strength, talent, and diversity of its people,” the statement emphasized.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.

Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.

In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.
