Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has called for an investigation into the attack on his convoy by armed assailants.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

News reports that Amaechi was attacked on Friday while heading to register as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in his Ubima community, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Before his arrival at around 12:15 p.m., suspected thugs had set up a roadblock and turned back buses identified as carrying ADC members. The attackers had also set fire to the ADC ward office in Ubima the previous night.

As Amaechi approached his community, the armed men opened fire on his convoy, but his security operatives engaged the attackers, forcing them to flee due to the superior firepower of his team.

After touring the burnt party office, Amaechi commended the Commissioner of Police, the Director of the Department of State Services, and the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for their swift response during the incident.

He, however, insisted that such attacks must not recur, emphasizing that those responsible should face prosecution.

“But they must also know that this cannot continue. The way to prevent it is to ensure that those involved are prosecuted,” he said.

Amaechi also urged the state governor to enhance security measures across Rivers State to prevent further incidents and called on party members to begin mass mobilisation, stressing that the ultimate goal was the presidency.

“I have been a governor, and I know the consequences of failing to protect lives. When people feel unsafe, they will take measures to protect themselves. Our role is to remain calm and peaceful. We are marching to Aso Rock. What they are doing is a distraction—they will not put food on your table. People are dying daily from hunger while a few steal our resources and ask us to remain silent.

“We can no longer keep quiet. ADC Rivers State must register en masse. We must ensure we have enough members to surprise them. On election day, they will know whether we will vote or not,” he added.

Oloyede said many of the issues recorded during the mock exercise were due to poor assessment of centres by some technical officials.

He further stated that incentive packages would be awarded to teams that perform exceptionally, particularly in handling exam materials and submitting timely reports.

Reiterating JAMB’s zero-tolerance stance on malpractice, he warned candidates against bringing prohibited items into examination halls.
