Nationwide Comeback: PDP Insists APC Won’t Win 2027.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has vowed to field candidates for all elective offices in the 2027 general elections, asserting that the party remains united despite recent internal disagreements.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The announcement coincided with the launch of an online membership registration drive in Abia State, aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilisation and rebuilding party structures ahead of the next electoral cycle.

PDP leaders spoke on Saturday during a stakeholders’ meeting in Umuahia, where Local Government Caretaker Committees were inaugurated and the electronic membership registration initiative formally unveiled.

Speaking at the event, PDP Deputy National Secretary, Richard Nnanna Ihediwa, alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was attempting to destabilise the opposition party out of fear of losing power in 2027.

“Nigerians should know that the APC is not an option in 2027. The reason they are fighting the PDP is that we are the only party capable of salvaging Nigeria from their grip,” he said.

Ihediwa claimed the APC had deployed political moles to exacerbate internal PDP disputes but said the leadership crisis had been resolved with the emergence of the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee at the Ibadan convention in November 2025. He expressed confidence that ongoing litigations over the leadership would ultimately support the current leadership.

“We have faith in the judiciary. Our convention was held in Ibadan, and our leadership emerged from there,” he added.

APC to Struggle in South-East – PDP
Ihediwa predicted poor performance for the APC in the South-East during the 2027 elections, citing widespread dissatisfaction with the Federal Government, including the continued detention of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

“A government that jailed your son and kept him far away should not expect your support,” he said. He also criticised the Federal Government for economic mismanagement, alleging policies that worsened hardships for Nigerians.

He accused some PDP members of attempting to sabotage the party for personal gain but praised the Governors’ Forum, party elders, and Board of Trustees for resisting such efforts.

“PDP is back on its winning track. We cannot be stopped,” Ihediwa declared.

Membership Drive Launched in Abia
Earlier, PDP Board of Trustees Chairman and former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara, officially launched the party’s online membership registration in Abia State, urging supporters to participate. He hailed the turnout as a sign of resilience and warned against godfatherism, calling for transparency and fairness.

Abia PDP Caretaker Committee Chairman, Hon. Ikpegbu Emeka-Yellow, described the inauguration of Local Government Caretaker Committees as a critical step toward rebuilding grassroots structures.

“The task before you is clear: rebuild our grassroots structures, mobilise members, reconnect with supporters, and restore public confidence,” he said, adding that sabotage would no longer be tolerated.

Former Abia Commissioner for Housing, Barrister James Opara, criticised the APC and its City Boy Movement, questioning provisions of the current Electoral Act that could undermine confidence in election results. He reaffirmed the legality of the Ibadan PDP convention.

Other speakers, including former lawmakers Hon. Emeka Ejiogu and Hon. Tamuna Iyala, expressed optimism about PDP’s resurgence in Abia State and pledged full support for the caretaker committee ahead of the 2027 elections.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.

Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.

In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.
