Olatunji Disu Yet To Appoint New Force PRO After Hundeyin’s Removal.
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has yet to appoint a substantive Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) following the removal of Benjamin Hundeyin as the Nigerian Police Force spokesperson.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Hundeyin, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, was reportedly relieved of his duties less than six months after assuming the role in September 2025.
Sources at the Force Headquarters in Abuja told Sahara Reporters that the removal occurred amid internal restructuring within the police hierarchy shortly after Disu was appointed the 23rd Inspector-General of Police by President Bola Tinubu.
The sources said discussions regarding a replacement are ongoing, but no formal appointment has been made.
Earlier reports suggested that Chief Superintendent of Police Aliyu Giwa could be named the next FPRO. Giwa previously served as Assistant Force Public Relations Officer at the police annex in Obalende, Lagos, from 2017 to 2022 and currently works as a cybersecurity specialist at the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre.
However, insiders clarified that Giwa has not been appointed to the position and is currently limited to managing the police’s social media operations.
“The Police Force PRO has not been appointed yet. Aliyu Giwa handles social media operations only, and a DCP will eventually be appointed to the role,” a senior police source said.
Sources familiar with the matter noted that the FPRO position is typically held by an officer with the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police, in line with the communications department’s structure. The process of selecting a suitable candidate is still ongoing.
Some sources also alleged attempts by certain individuals to influence the decision by promoting narratives online. “Due to Giwa’s current role, he is close to bloggers and is reportedly leveraging them to push for his appointment. That explains the reports circulating online,” one source added.
Hundeyin had previously served as Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command before his appointment as Force spokesperson.
As of the time of reporting, police authorities had not issued an official statement on a new Force Public Relations Officer, leaving the position effectively vacant.

“February Salaries Delayed: Accountant-General Explains Why Workers Are Still Waiting”.
The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation has clarified why staff of the Federal Ministry of Steel Development and four other federal agencies have not yet received their February 2026 salaries.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to a statement by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Accountant-General’s office, the delay is due to gaps in the budget allocated for personnel costs in the affected organisations.
The agencies impacted include the Federal Ministry of Steel Development, the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, the National Rural Electrification Agency, Kamuku National Park, and the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria. The shortfall in funds caused the hold-up in salary payments.
The Accountant-General’s office stated that the affected organisations have been instructed to liaise with the Cash Management Office of the Federal Ministry of Finance to address the funding gaps. Salaries for other federal workers outside these agencies have already been processed.
The statement also addressed civil servants with salary accounts at Standard Chartered Bank, noting that some employees were unable to access their funds because the bank requires a minimum account balance of seven million naira. Despite this policy, the salaries were fully transferred to the bank.
The office assured workers that measures are being taken to resolve the delays and ensure timely payment of salaries.
The 2026 federal budget allocates about N8.36 trillion for personnel costs, with additional provisions for pensions and gratuities, reflecting the government’s planned expenditure on staff-related obligations.
