Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has accepted his appointment as Nigeria’s ambassador to Mexico.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement on Friday, Omokri expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the posting, describing the Nigerian leader as “the most Christlike individual” with the ability to forgive and show forbearance.

Omokri made the declaration shortly after President Tinubu approved the postings of 31 career and 34 non-career ambassadors to various countries and the United Nations. A statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed that while former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode was posted to Germany, Omokri would represent Nigeria in Mexico.

Reacting to the appointment, Omokri pledged loyalty to both the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and to President Tinubu. He said:

“I sincerely thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, for my ambassadorial posting. He is a man with a heart of gold and, as I have said before, the most Christlike individual, with the capacity to forgive and forbear. Nigeria could not have a better leader for the present time and the next five years, by the grace of God.

“I accept this appointment and posting to the glory of God and for the betterment of Nigeria, pledging my unalloyed loyalty to the Constitution and to President Tinubu, the custodian of the Constitution and Head of State.

“I thank my foster parents, Esijolomi and Omerewumi, who moulded me into what I am today, and my late biological parents, Bemigho and Ochuko. I also thank my wife, Hana, for her encouragement and nurturing, and my friend Malam Nuhu Ribadu, whose guidance enabled me to serve as Presidential spokesman.

“It is fitting that this posting comes as I embark on a six-day climb to Mount Kilimanjaro to hoist Nigeria’s flag atop Africa’s highest mountain. Each step reminds me how God, through President Tinubu, is repositioning Nigeria for greatness. In 2025, Nigeria, with just 2% of the world’s population, became the sixth largest contributor to global GDP, according to the World Bank and IMF.

“Under this administration, Nigeria has shown itself to be a safe, secure, and politically stable country, hosting the largest single tourist event in Africa—Detty December 2025—which attracted 1.2 million tourists without a single incident.

“I rededicate my life to Nigeria, to serve faithfully, honestly, and loyally, and to promote the country to the best of my ability, so help me God.”

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.

In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.
