Senator representing Borno South in the National Assembly, Ali Ndume, has confirmed that an unspecified number of civilians, soldiers and insurgents were killed following an attack on Ngoshe community in Borno State by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking in an interview, Ndume said full details of the incident remain unclear but disclosed that several fleeing insurgents were neutralised by the air component of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI.

He expressed grief over the deaths of the Chief Imam of Ngoshe, some community elders and security personnel, adding that more than 100 residents are still missing or were abducted during the assault.

The lawmaker condemned the attack, extended condolences to bereaved families and wished the injured speedy recovery.

Ndume revealed that the military base in the area was overrun, with key equipment destroyed. He added that homes and properties worth millions of naira were also razed during the invasion.

He further alleged that security agencies lack sufficient Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles at the frontline, claiming that troops are often equipped mainly with AK-47 rifles, while insurgents deploy more advanced weapons such as Rocket-Propelled Grenades (RPGs), anti-aircraft guns and drones.

The senator called for intensified military operations in the Sambisa Forest and Mandara Mountains to curb insurgent activities in Southern Borno.

According to him, the absence of stationed attack helicopters in the North East poses a major security challenge, noting that available aircraft have reportedly been redeployed to other regions, making rapid response difficult during attacks in the area.

Ndume said thousands of displaced residents, mostly women and children, have taken refuge in Pulka community. He added that the General Officer Commanding 7 Division and the Brigade Commander in Gwoza are currently in Ngoshe to restore normalcy, while efforts are underway with the Borno State Emergency Management Agency and the Gwoza Local Government Chairman to provide relief materials to affected residents.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.

Meanwhile, comedians Ayobami Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, and Olamide Oladimeji, also known as Dele Omo Woli, have threatened legal action against individuals allegedly linking them to Toluwanisings’ death.

Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.

In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.
