UK PM Approves US Request To Use British Bases For Strikes On Iranian Missiles.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced on Sunday that the United Kingdom has approved a request from the United States to use British military bases for limited defensive operations targeting Iranian missiles held in storage facilities or positioned in launchers.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a video message shared on X, Starmer explained that the US sought permission to access British bases strictly for a specific defensive objective. He said the UK agreed in order to prevent Iran from launching missiles across the region.

The prime minister also clarified that Britain did not take part in the coordinated US-Israel airstrikes on Iran that reportedly killed the country’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, on Saturday. He stressed that the UK would not participate in any additional rounds of offensive strikes.

Reports indicate that Iran has since carried out sustained retaliatory attacks across the region, with missiles hitting airports and hotels where British nationals were staying.

Starmer stated that the UK’s decision to stay out of the initial strikes was intentional, emphasizing that a negotiated settlement remains the preferred path forward. According to him, such a settlement would require Iran to abandon any ambitions of developing nuclear weapons. However, he noted that Iran’s actions have nonetheless targeted British interests and endangered British citizens.

He added that Gulf allies had urged Britain to strengthen defensive measures, underscoring that safeguarding British lives remains his primary responsibility.

Starmer disclosed that British fighter jets have already participated in coordinated defensive missions, intercepting Iranian missile attacks. He maintained that neutralising the threat at its origin—by striking missile depots and launch sites—was the most effective way to halt further attacks.

The prime minister said the decision to grant the US request was grounded in the principle of collective self-defence alongside long-standing allies and in line with international law.
