Iran: Fresh Tension As Missiles, Drones Hit UAE Airports.

At least one person has died and several others were injured after parts of major airports in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were struck during a wave of Iranian missile and drone attacks late Saturday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Authorities reported that the attacks targeted key aviation hubs in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, causing panic and forcing a temporary suspension of flight operations.

In a statement on on Sunday, Abu Dhabi Airports confirmed casualties following an “incident” linked to the interception of a drone aimed at Zayed International Airport.

“Authorities in Abu Dhabi are responding to an incident resulting from the interception of a drone targeting Zayed International Airport. Falling debris led to the death of one Asian national and injuries to seven others,” the statement read.

The agency urged the public to avoid spreading rumours and to rely only on official updates, promising further information as it becomes available.

Emergency responders were quickly deployed to treat the injured and secure the area. Authorities also confirmed that four people sustained injuries at Dubai International Airport (DXB).

Flight operations were temporarily suspended while emergency teams attended to the victims and aviation officials assessed the situation.

Although officials did not immediately provide a full assessment of structural damage, Reuters reported that debris from intercepted missiles and drones caused limited destruction near airport facilities and nearby residential areas.

The UAE’s air defence forces reportedly engaged dozens of Iranian missiles and drones during the late-night assault. Most projectiles were intercepted, but fragments from destroyed drones and missiles fell across parts of the country, causing casualties and property damage.

The nation’s airspace was temporarily closed, grounding flights at major airports and leaving thousands of travellers stranded as airlines cancelled or delayed services.

The attacks are part of rising tensions in the Middle East, with Iranian forces reportedly retaliating after extensive strikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian territory.

With the situation ongoing, UAE aviation and security authorities remain on high alert, while residents and passengers await updates on the resumption of flights and restoration of safety.

UNIABUJA Honours Odili, Ali, Issa As 17,300 Students Graduate.

Yakubu Gowon University (formerly University of Abuja) has graduated 17,300 students at its combined 29th and 30th convocation ceremonies held on Saturday at the main campus.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The university also conferred honorary Doctorate Degrees on Paul Odili, Founder and CEO of Paulo Group of Companies; Prof. Yusuf Ali, SAN; and Emmanuel Issa, in recognition of their contributions to society.

Vice Chancellor, Prof. Hakeem Fawehinmi, said the honourees were selected based on their character, achievements, and commitment to excellence.

He urged graduating students to focus on what they can contribute to national development, stressing that character, discipline, and integrity would determine their success beyond the classroom.

According to him, certificates may open doors, but personal values and conduct will shape long-term achievements.

The Vice Chancellor also reminded the graduates to uphold the reputation of the institution wherever they go.

Fawehinmi disclosed that the 29th convocation covered the 2022/2023 academic session, while the 30th covered 2023/2024, with thousands graduating across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
