Court Ruling Is A Vindication For Ibadan Convention – Makinde PDP Faction.

A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has hailed the recent court ruling on the Ibadan convention as a clear vindication of both fact and law.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP group loyal to Governor Seyi Makinde, Ini Ememobong, described the High Court judgment on Friday as a positive development.

Justice Ladiran Akintola of the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan had upheld the results of the PDP’s 2025 convention held on November 15 and 16, 2025.

In response, Ememobong stated that the ruling confirms the Ibadan convention was conducted fairly, transparently, and fully in line with the party’s constitution and Nigerian law. He also praised the judiciary for upholding the truth and expressed hope that higher courts would reach the same conclusion.

The statement reads:

“The Peoples Democratic Party has been informed of the judgment of the High Court of Oyo State, sitting in Ibadan, delivered by Honourable Justice Ladiran Akintola. The court granted all reliefs sought by the claimant, Folahan Malomo Adelabi, declaring the National Convention held in Ibadan as properly conducted and directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise and give full effect to all decisions and outcomes of the convention, having found them lawful and proper.

The suit, filed by Musibau Adetunbi, SAN, on behalf of Folahan Malomo Adelabi, a registered party member, sought to protect his constitutional right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association. It also requested that the PDP conduct its elections as publicly advertised and that INEC honour the convention’s outcomes.

The Honourable Court had previously issued orders on November 3 and renewed them on November 14, 2025, which formed the legal basis for the convention held on November 15 and 16. This judgment now affirms and finalises those earlier orders.

We welcome this judgment as a vindication of both fact and law, confirming that the Ibadan convention was conducted properly, transparently, and in accordance with the party’s constitution and Nigerian law.

We commend the Court for its courage and dedication to justice and reaffirm our faith in the Nigerian judiciary as an independent arbiter and the last hope of the ordinary citizen.

The party remains committed to pursuing all legitimate legal avenues to ensure justice is fully served and is confident that appellate courts will uphold the law without fear or favour.”

This marks a significant boost for the Makinde-led PDP faction, reinforcing the legitimacy of the Ibadan convention outcomes.

He further stated that incentive packages would be awarded to teams that perform exceptionally, particularly in handling exam materials and submitting timely reports.
