‘I Didn’t Have A Gun, I Could Have Given Myself A Licence’ – Tinubu Speaks On Killing Opposition.

Speaking at an interfaith breaking of fast with senators at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Tinubu said critics were entitled to their opinions but emphasized that he had no role in weakening opposition parties.
He stated, “Critics must talk. When they accused me of killing the opposition, I didn’t have a gun. I could have given myself a licence when I had the authority. But I can’t blame anybody for jumping out of a sinking ship if they did.”
The President stressed that those who joined the APC did so voluntarily, without any abuse of office or force.
Tinubu Urges Unity Amid Security Challenges
Tinubu called on Nigerians to unite in addressing the country’s security issues, including terrorism and banditry.
He said, “The terrorism and banditry we face are causing havoc. We must pull together, as our forefathers envisioned, to strengthen constitutional democracy. They didn’t say we should fight. Harmony is key.”
Highlighting the severity of insecurity, he urged the National Assembly to initiate constitutional reforms to establish state police, arguing that this would strengthen security and better protect citizens.
Tinubu asked lawmakers to prioritise these reforms as part of broader efforts to stabilise the nation and reinforce democracy.
