The entrepreneur and leadership advocate made the remark during a preaching engagement where she spoke on wealth, discipline, and financial responsibility.

According to Awosika, the true financial situation of many prominent figures often remains hidden, even from their families, until after their death. She noted that outward appearances can be misleading, as some well-known individuals struggle with significant debt behind the scenes.

She said that during her time as chairman of a leading bank, she observed that many respected and wealthy personalities were living on borrowed funds while sustaining extravagant public images. In many cases, their families were unaware of how financially strained they were until it was too late.

Reflecting on her personal experience, Awosika revealed that for more than ten years, she earned more than her husband while he steadily built his career in the public sector. Rather than allowing the income difference to create tension, she said they approached it as an opportunity for partnership and shared progress.

She advised couples, particularly women, not to allow money to become a source of division in marriage, describing finances as a tool meant to strengthen unity and joint purpose.

According to her, money should be used to accomplish goals together, regardless of who earns more, emphasizing that marriage is about teamwork rather than competition.
