NFF Reacts To Eric Chelle’s 19-Point Demands As Contract Talks Loom.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has expressed surprise over a series of new demands from Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, noting that many of the facilities he is requesting are already provided.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Chelle, who still has a year remaining on his current contract, reportedly submitted a comprehensive 19-point proposal last week detailing the conditions under which he would continue leading the national team. The requests have sparked discussion within Nigerian football circles, especially given the financial realities of the sport.
Among the key demands is a monthly salary of $130,000. The coach is also said to have requested a private SUV with a chauffeur and dedicated security, citing mobility and personal safety concerns.
Chelle is further reported to want accommodation with uninterrupted 24-hour electricity, a fully furnished office equipped with a projector for tactical sessions, and reliable internet access to facilitate modern coaching operations.
The federation has quickly moved to clarify that the coach is not without essential provisions. Speaking to The Guardian, NFF Secretary General Dr. Mohammed Sanusi dismissed claims that Chelle lacks basic support.
“Chelle has accommodation, a car, and a driver,” Sanusi said.
While he did not elaborate on all the other requests, insiders confirm the proposals are under internal review, with the salary increase emerging as a major point of contention.
“Let us remember that Chelle still has one year left on his existing contract. These are additional requests for potential renewal, which will be carefully considered,” a source close to the NFF told The Guardian.
The technical committee is expected to review the proposals before making recommendations to the NFF board. With the Super Eagles preparing for crucial fixtures later in the year, federation officials are keen to resolve the matter swiftly to avoid distractions for the team.
There are also reports that the NFF is evaluating options for coaching roles across other national teams, though no formal decisions have been announced.
