The fabricated post, shared on by a user named Milli (@yk_milli), quickly went viral, racking up thousands of views before it was deleted. The false claim angered fans, who immediately questioned its credibility.

Boniface, currently on loan at Werder Bremen from Bayer Leverkusen, responded publicly before the post was removed. Writing in Pidgin, he warned the user, “Hope you get better lawyer. For ur sake I pray you get.”

He also shared a screenshot showing he had blocked the account, adding, “You go think say na everything be play. Wetinx be ur size make tailor start work.” The messages were widely seen as a clear signal that he intends to pursue legal action.

The timing of the hoax drew further criticism, as Boniface is sidelined following knee surgery that has ruled him out for the remainder of the 2024-2025 season. The 25-year-old has previously opened up about the emotional challenges of his injury, admitting he had been “putting on a fake smile” for over a year during rehabilitation.

Organised under the platform “AIO’s Women” and coordinated by Mrs Tawakalt Suleiman, the group later joined the House of Representatives hopeful at the Orangun of Ila’s palace, where the rally continued under security supervision.

Suleiman said the mobilisation was part of efforts to drum up support for President Bola Tinubu, the APC governorship candidate, and Adeniyi Ismail Oluwatosin ahead of the elections, adding that the group had been actively engaging voters through door-to-door campaigns and CVR mobilisation.
