Only a few residents were present despite the official start of voting. An election official reportedly informed party agents and voters that over 8,000 people are registered at the unit. The polling area appeared sparsely populated, with security personnel and election officials visibly outnumbering the voters.

Allegations of voter inducement also emerged at the station. Some voters claimed that party agents were gathered in a corner, allegedly pressuring individuals to influence their choices. These claims, however, could not be independently verified at the time of reporting.

One first-time voter, who identified himself as Yaro, told reporters that he expected to receive something before casting his ballot. Similar remarks were reportedly made by other young voters at the unit.

Meanwhile, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has deployed operatives across all six area councils of the FCT to monitor today’s council elections.

The commission stated that the deployment aims to safeguard electoral integrity and prevent vote buying or other forms of inducement during the polls.

In a statement on Saturday, EFCC Executive Chairman Ola Olukoyede directed officers to maintain strict surveillance across all polling units within the FCT. He urged them to be vigilant and proactive in preventing any electoral malpractice that could compromise the credibility of the exercise.

The EFCC confirmed that its officers are strategically positioned across the territory to ensure transparency and accountability throughout the elections.

“The officers are all over the FCT safeguarding the electoral processes to ensure transparency and accountable conduct,” the commission said in its statement.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.

Meanwhile, comedians Ayobami Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, and Olamide Oladimeji, also known as Dele Omo Woli, have threatened legal action against individuals allegedly linking them to Toluwanisings’ death.

Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.

In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.
