“E-Transmission: Lawmaker Congratulates Tinubu For Imposing Fait Accompli On Nigerians”.
Victor Ogene, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency in Anambra State, has accused President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) of imposing a fait accompli on Nigerians.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking on Arise Television on Wednesday, Ogene said the signing of the Electoral Act by President Tinubu effectively ended any opportunity for further resistance. He described the move as a troubling moment for Nigeria’s democracy, noting that it occurred during a solemn religious period observed by both Christians and Muslims.
“I want to start by congratulating the President and APC for forcing a fait accompli on the Nigerian people. I say this with all due sense of responsibility,” Ogene stated.
The lawmaker added that while many Nigerians were aware that the 2027 elections were approaching, the public delayed reacting until the final moments.
“We knew the 2027 elections were coming, but we waited until the last minute to avoid agitation from civil society groups and the media. Now that the Act has been signed, the door is closed to any further pushback. In recent weeks and days, we have had to accept the fait accompli.
“On this solemn day, when Nigerians on both sides of the religious divide—Christians and Muslims—have begun their fast, it is a sad day for democracy, and one that will be remembered as such,” he said.
