The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party (LP) has revealed that it has formally petitioned the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), the Department of State Services (DSS), and other relevant security agencies to arrest and prosecute the party’s former National Chairman, Julius Abure.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking on Monday at the party’s Abuja secretariat, the Nenadi Usman-led NWC questioned why Abure is still moving freely despite alleged criminal actions.

The LP accused Abure and his associates of violently storming the national secretariat, threatening to kill anyone who resisted, and destroying property and billboards bearing the image of Interim National Chairman, Nenadi Usman.

The party also claimed that laptops, sensitive documents, and financial records were stolen during the invasion.

“We demand the immediate arrest and prosecution of Julius Abure and his accomplices for criminal trespass, contempt of court, impersonation, and threats to Nigeria’s constitutional democracy. Nigeria is a constitutional democracy governed by law, not an arena of impunity and brigandage as imagined by Mr. Julius Abure and others,” the party stated.

The LP emphasized that the supremacy of the constitution and the authority of judicial decisions are central to the nation, noting that the leadership wrote to the IGP, DSS, and other security agencies to ensure lawful enforcement of the court judgment and provide security for a peaceful takeover of the secretariat. Security officials reportedly provided coverage on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm.

According to the party, Abure and his associates’ operation “lasted over 30 minutes” and involved the removal of “sensitive party documents, financial records, registration materials, laptops, desktops, phones, and other critical assets.”

“This incident reflects a troubling pattern of impunity and disregard for lawful authority. They even posted on social media the night of the operation, effectively incriminating themselves. Their subsequent press statements from undisclosed locations misrepresent facts and show continued impersonation, defying binding court rulings and INEC’s authority as Nigeria’s political party regulator,” the LP added.
