Comedian DeeOne Says “Sympathy Votes Won’t Save Peter Obi In 2027”.
Nigerian comedian Aderombi Adedayo Martin, popularly known as Comedian DeeOne, has stated that former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi cannot rely on sympathy votes to win in 2027.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
DeeOne made the comments in a video shared on his Instagram page while reacting to the formation of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election support group, the City Boy Movement. The group, founded by Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, includes several prominent Peter Obi supporters as coordinators and directors in most South-East states.
Addressing the situation, DeeOne urged Obi to intensify his campaign efforts and invest resources, noting that some of Obi’s agents during the 2023 election were reportedly supported by rival political parties at polling units.
He warned that Obi’s popular slogan, “We no dey give shishi,” would not suffice in 2027, stressing that the former governor must hear the truth if he hopes to succeed.
DeeOne said:
“If Peter Obi wants to perform well in the 2027 election, he must be told the truth. Sympathy votes won’t win a presidential election. While it may have helped him in 2023, it won’t work next time.
“I’m not saying he shouldn’t invest in campaign activities, but old strategies won’t be enough. Underestimating the City Boy Movement would be a mistake — they are serious and organized. Presidential elections are not a joke; you have to show effort.
“In the last U.S. election, Donald Trump spent $66 million of his own money. The government only forbids vote-buying, not campaigning. During our last election, Labor Party agents often went without food or water at polling units, while rival parties provided for their agents. If Peter Obi doesn’t have funds for his campaign, he should organize contributions from supporters and transparently account for their use.
“Saying ‘we no dey spend shi shi’ doesn’t help if your agents on the ground are risking their lives to count votes. Ensuring they are properly supported is critical. Telling Peter Obi the truth doesn’t mean you dislike him; it means you want him to succeed in the next election.”
