“2027 Elections Already Decided – Shehu Claims”.

Published

on

Public affairs commentator Mahdi Shehu has claimed that the outcome of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections has effectively been decided.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a post on X on Friday, Shehu argued that the results of the elections appear to have been predetermined. He pointed to key political actors—including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the All Progressives Congress (APC), certain factions of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and members of the Senate—as being aligned on issues surrounding the manual transmission of election results.

Shehu criticized the Senate’s decision to allow manual voting alongside electronic transmission, suggesting it creates a deliberate opportunity for manipulation. He further alleged that, because INEC officials are appointed by President Bola Tinubu, the commission might act in ways that favor the appointing authority.

“With the provision of manual voting imposed by the Senate on behalf of other visible stakeholders, it is reasonable to assume that the winners of the 2027 elections are already known, along with their platforms,” Shehu wrote.

Ending his message on a spiritual note, Shehu reminded that while politicians may scheme, “Allah is the best of planners,” and cited Jeremiah 29:11 from the Bible: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Veteran journalist and former presidential media aide Reuben Abati has analyzed that Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike is bound to create enemies within the All Progressives Congress (APC) because he is consistently outshining party leaders. Speaking on Wednesday’s edition of The Morning Show, Abati explained that Wike has projected himself as a uniquely hardworking minister and a staunch loyalist of President Bola Tinubu, which sits at the heart of the friction between him and the APC governors.

Abati pointed out that when a “servant outshines the master,” it naturally generates conflict. He noted that Wike is widely perceived by some as Nigeria’s most powerful politician—credited by many for delivering crucial votes for Tinubu in Rivers State—and that he holds frequent media chats and press conferences, often overshadowing even the Minister of Information. By presenting himself as more proactive in promoting the President than the 31 APC governors designated to anchor Tinubu’s second-term bid, Wike has drawn considerable pushback.

This analysis follows a fresh face-off between Wike and APC governors concerning the 2027 elections. Progressive Governors Forum Chairman and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, recently announced that the governors resolved to reject parallel structures and alliances—such as Wike’s Rainbow Coalition—that could weaken the ruling party or fracture support for Tinubu’s re-election. In response, Wike dismissed the governors as politically lazy, maintaining that his primary loyalty is to President Tinubu rather than the governors’ individual political structures, and insisting the coalition poses no threat to the President’s 2027 prospects.
