2027: El-Rufai’s Son Gives Condition To dump APC.
Bello El-Rufai, federal lawmaker and son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has dismissed speculation about a potential defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The lawmaker’s response came after a social media user encouraged him to leave the APC for the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Bello firmly rejected the suggestion, stressing that his political choices are not influenced by online opinions.
He highlighted his electoral victory in Kaduna North as the foundation of his position, reminding critics that his primary loyalty is to the constituents who entrusted him with their mandate.
In his statement, he noted: “Bello El-Rufai wins Kaduna North Rep seat with 51,052 votes, defeating the PDP candidate, Samaila, who scored 34,808. I also set a record as the first candidate to win all 12 wards in Kaduna North.”
He emphasized that his mandate belongs to the 51,052 voters who elected him—not to voices on social media.
Bello added that the only circumstance under which he would leave the APC would be a directive from his father, whom he repeatedly referred to as “Mallam.”
“If Mallam asks me to leave the APC, I’ll resign my seat tonight. I can be non-Partisan. My people adore me,” he said.
He also challenged the social media user, saying: “I’ll send 10 million to you tonight if you can convince the 51,052 people who gave me this mandate. Do you have an app to confirm?”
Reaffirming his respect for his father, Bello also stressed his loyalty to the Kaduna State administration led by Governor Uba Sani, whom he described as his “boss,” ruling out any disloyalty.
He recounted that after attending a public event with his father, he went straight to an APC caucus meeting in Kaduna alongside the Speaker and the Governor—a move he said was both intentional and symbolic.
Bello also noted the opportunities the APC has provided him, allowing him to work with senior officials, including Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Olayemi Cardoso.
On political ethics, he concluded: “I will never publicly oppose the governor, nor will I plan against him. It is called honour.”
