The President commended the NEC, chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima, for providing a critical platform for policy coordination and strategic engagement among the tiers of government.

The two-day conference is themed “Delivering Inclusive Growth and Sustainable National Development: The Renewed Hope National Development Plan 2026–2030.”

Addressing participants, Tinubu said the conference comes at a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s development journey, noting that NEC remains central to fiscal federalism and economic governance.

He highlighted key achievements of his administration, stating that ongoing economic reforms have helped stabilise the economy and rebuild confidence.

“The monetary policy reforms we embarked upon have yielded positive results and earned global recognition,” he said, while praising the Central Bank of Nigeria under Governor Yemi Cardoso for restoring credibility to the monetary system.

The President noted that states and local governments now enjoy higher and more predictable federal allocations, improving their ability to pay salaries, invest in infrastructure and deliver social services.

He added that the administration has prioritised infrastructure development across transport, power, digital connectivity, housing and irrigation, alongside expanded social investment and human capital programmes targeting vulnerable groups, youths, women and small businesses.

Tinubu also highlighted the Renewed Hope Ward Development Project as evidence of a bottom-up approach to inclusive growth, stressing that progress so far reflects strong collaboration between federal and state governments, development partners and the private sector.

On the Renewed Hope National Development Plan 2026–2030, the President said it marks the next phase of Nigeria’s development, focused on inclusive, resilient and environmentally sustainable growth.

According to him, the plan prioritises economic diversification, productivity, human capital development, subnational competitiveness, private sector-led growth and climate resilience, with effective implementation at state and local levels being crucial.

He urged participants to move from policy declarations to execution through data-driven decisions, peer learning and innovative financing.

Tinubu expressed optimism that outcomes from the conference would boost agricultural diversification, including dairy farming, livestock investment and ranching, describing the moment as challenging but historic for the nation.
