One of the survivors of the deadly attack on Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara State, Danjuma Bagu, said he has been unable to reach his family since the massacre.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking to Daily Trust, Bagu revealed that several days after gunmen stormed the community last Tuesday, he has not heard from his wife and six children. The attack has so far claimed 150 lives, according to community leaders, as search and rescue efforts continue.

Bagu, who is being treated for a gunshot wound to his thigh at Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH), said he fled during the attack and lost contact with his family.

“As I speak, I don’t know if my wife and six children are alive. I haven’t heard from them since Tuesday, and I also lost my phone,” he said.

He described the attackers as about 200 men on motorcycles, who opened fire indiscriminately. Bagu appealed to the government to assist the victims, noting that survivors have been left with nothing.

Another survivor, Joshua Dame, a farmer from Plateau State, shared how he narrowly escaped. He said he was heading from his farm to town to buy supplies when the attackers struck.

“I was on my way with a friend when we saw about 200 heavily armed men in army uniforms on motorcycles. They filled the entire area and immediately opened fire. My friend was killed instantly. I was shot in the stomach, the bullet exited through my right side, and my right hand was broken,” he recalled.

Dame said he pretended to be dead to survive.

“I heard one of them say I wasn’t dead and they should shoot me again, but they left, taking my motorcycle and moving into the town, killing and burning everything,” he said.

Badly injured, Dame crawled into the forest and hid for eight hours until soldiers rescued him the following morning.

“I crawled into the forest from when I was shot until the army arrived. I stayed quiet despite the pain because I didn’t know if they were still around. I don’t know how I survived. The army took us to Kaiama Teaching Hospital, and then here,” he added.

The attacks have left survivors traumatized and displaced, highlighting urgent needs for security and humanitarian support in the area.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.

Meanwhile, comedians Ayobami Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, and Olamide Oladimeji, also known as Dele Omo Woli, have threatened legal action against individuals allegedly linking them to Toluwanisings’ death.

Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.

In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.

The legal notice maintained that the allegations were baseless and intended to damage the reputations of the two entertainers.
