Akpabio made this known at the weekend while hosting the leadership of the initiative in Abuja. According to a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, the Senate President described the engagement as historic, noting that it marked a defining moment for political unity in Akwa Ibom State.

He said the emergence of the ARISE with Renewed Hope Initiative represents stability, preparedness, and a clear pathway to victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 polls.

“With this group, Akwa Ibom State is safe and ready for the elections. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Umo Eno, and I will work with this group to achieve its set objectives,” Akpabio said.

Expressing strong confidence in the APC’s prospects, Akpabio predicted unprecedented electoral outcomes for the party in the state. He stated that Akwa Ibom would deliver massive votes for President Tinubu, re-elect Governor Eno, and overwhelmingly return him to the Senate.

He further described Governor Eno’s role in fostering unity as divinely inspired, saying it guarantees a brighter future for both Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria.

Governor Umo Eno, in his remarks, described the ARISE with Renewed Hope Initiative as the foremost political structure in the state, reflecting the unity and collective strength of Akwa Ibom people within the APC. He said the group represents the consolidation of political forces across the state and reaffirmed Akpabio as the political leader with a solid and enduring grassroots base.

The governor added that the initiative brings together all major political stakeholders in Akwa Ibom, united by a shared vision and purpose.

President General of the group, Uwem Okoko, said the visit was to formally present the initiative to the Senate President, following its earlier unveiling to Governor Eno. He declared that the group’s mission was unequivocal: total victory for the APC in 2027.

“Akwa Ibom State is firmly APC and fully mobilised for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno,” Okoko said.

He praised President Tinubu’s ongoing reforms and pledged that Akwa Ibom would deliver bloc votes, assuring that the state would record the highest votes nationwide. Okoko also reaffirmed the group’s full support for Governor Eno’s ARISE Agenda and his second-term bid.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the initiative, Sir Victor Antai, described the gathering as a historic convergence of political leaders committed to a united front ahead of the 2027 elections. He said the group is a coalition with deep grassroots reach, strategically positioned to mobilise massive support for the APC at all levels.

The highlight of the visit was the presentation of the group’s official regalia to Akpabio by Okoko and Antai, during which he formally accepted his position as the Grand Patron of the ARISE with Renewed Hope Initiative.

The state Commissioner of Police, Patrick Daaor, disclosed that the suspect and the deceased initially connected online and developed a friendship after communicating for several months.

According to Daaor, Samuel later invited the woman to his residence in the Ahor area of Benin City, where he allegedly stabbed her to death with a knife.

The police commissioner stated that the suspect had been taken into custody and would be charged in court after investigations were concluded.

However, Samuel has offered a different account of the incident, claiming that the woman was injured during a struggle over a knife following an argument between them.

Speaking in an interview, the 21-year-old insisted that he did not intend to kill her.

“I didn’t mean to kill her, but she got injured in the process of struggling with her for the knife during an argument,” he said.

The suspect explained that he had met the woman on social media and that their friendship developed over several months of online conversations before she decided to visit him.

He said they were initially having a discussion at his residence, but the conversation eventually escalated into an argument.

“On the day she came to my house, we were discussing, but the discussion snowballed into an argument. In the process, she picked up a knife and intended to stab me,” he claimed.

Samuel further alleged that the woman sustained an injury to her neck while they were struggling over the knife.

He maintained that he attempted to save her after she was injured but was unable to prevent her death.

“I didn’t mean to kill her. I tried to save her after she was injured, but she died,” he said.
