Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North, has described the public commendation of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, by United States President Donald Trump as a diplomatic win for Nigeria and a reflection of religious harmony under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Oshiomhole made the remarks on Friday while speaking with State House correspondents after paying a visit to President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The former Edo State governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart said he visited the President to extend New Year goodwill and to congratulate him on what he called President Trump’s flattering recognition of the First Lady at a recent public event in the United States.

“I came to greet Mr President. I have not seen him since the beginning of 2026, so I wished him a happy New Year,” Oshiomhole said.

He noted that Trump, whom he described as the world’s most powerful leader, publicly acknowledged Nigeria’s First Lady, praising her as a respected and responsible woman and inviting her to stand for recognition during the event.

According to the senator, the applause that followed Trump’s remarks underscored the pride and positive international image the recognition brought to Nigeria.

“If the situation were reversed, one can imagine the reactions from the opposition,” he said, adding that the acknowledgment highlighted the global respect commanded by the First Lady.

Oshiomhole said the gesture also symbolised peaceful religious coexistence in Nigeria, noting that it reflected harmony between Christianity and Islam under the current administration.

He explained that Trump recognised the fact that President Tinubu is a Muslim married to a Christian pastor, describing it as evidence that there is no conflict between the Quran and the Bible.

“This, for me, is a credit to all Nigerians,” he said.

The APC chieftain urged Nigerians to remain united and optimistic, stressing the need to collectively address the country’s challenges rather than constantly speaking negatively about it.

“We have our challenges as a nation, but together we will resolve them, and they are already being addressed,” Oshiomhole added.

The entity, operating under the banner of the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office, falsely claimed affiliation with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) to solicit financial support, land allocations, and institutional collaboration from multiple state governors.

According to details revealed by ICPC Chairman Musa Aliyu following a briefing with the President, the group utilized official-looking documents bearing presidency insignia—including appointment letters and formal correspondence—to approach state administrations between January and February. • Lagos State: Sent a “Third Reminder” letter addressed to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to request the nomination of a state coordinator under the guise of boosting local production and small businesses.

  • Edo State: Requested authorization and payment fees amounting to thousands of dollars per participant for an upcoming international engagement in Bahrain, directing funds into designated commercial bank accounts.

  • Nasarawa State: Sought backing to host a national stakeholders’ meeting in Lafia aimed at formally launching its nationwide executive structure.

  • Ondo State: Reached out to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to demand physical land allocations for a proposed “Made in Nigeria Product Market” hub.

  • Imo State: Invited Governor Hope Uzodimma as a special guest while concurrently requesting financial contributions to cover logistics, accommodation, and conference expenses.
