Abia Pensioners Tell Governor Otti: “Stop Wasting Money on Campaigns”

During their bi-weekly meeting in Umuahia on Thursday, the pensioners warned that any attempts by politicians to manipulate the state’s political outcome in 2027 would fail. They emphasized that it would be difficult to sideline Governor Otti in the upcoming polls.
Speaking through their Coordinator, Emeka Okezie, and other leaders, the retirees recalled the hardships they endured under previous administrations due to delayed pension payments. They also reminded the Governor of his 2025 pledge to pay their gratuities, expressing hope that he would fulfill it.
“The Governor should not waste money campaigning. He has achieved more than expected in less than three years,” Okezie stated.
The pensioners further urged the state government to ensure that the outgoing leadership of the NUP reopens its office in the state, noting that it had been locked for several years, forcing them to hold meetings outdoors.
