Ramadan Keeps Me From Performing In Nigeria – Fave.
Nigerian singer Chidozie Godsfavour Ugochinyere, popularly known as Fave, has raised concerns over what she described as restrictions preventing artistes from staging shows in Nigeria during the Ramadan fasting period.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Baby Riddim crooner disclosed that plans to host a concert on her birthday, March 13, have stalled because the date falls within Ramadan.
According to Fave, she was told that music events are not permitted during the Islamic fasting season, a development that left her confused and disappointed, especially as she had hoped the concert would mark her first major performance in Nigeria as an independent artiste.
She revealed that several promoters declined to work on the event, all citing Ramadan as the reason for turning it down.
While stressing that she respects all religions, Fave questioned why the fasting period should hinder her ability to work or derail her personal plans. She noted that having grown up in southern Nigeria, she only became familiar with Ramadan practices later in life.
The singer also clarified that she is a Christian and expressed a strong desire to celebrate her birthday with a live performance in her home country.
Appealing to potential partners, Fave said she remains open to collaborating with any promoter willing to organise the show despite the timing.
“So I was trying to do a show in Nigeria on my birthday this year, but they’re telling me shows aren’t allowed during Ramadan. I’m a little confused,” she wrote.
“I started the year wanting to do my first show in Nigeria on my birthday as an independent artiste, but promoters kept sending the same message to my team.
“I respect all religions, but I’m Christian and I really want to do this on my birthday. If anyone is open to organising it, I’d be very happy.”
